Police raid party, arrest 91 Colby-Sawyer students

NEW LONDON – Three Colby-Sawyer College students are charged with hosting an under-age drinking party after more than 100 students were taken into custody at an off-campus house Friday night.

According to police, 55 people were cited for internal possession of alcohol, based on blood-alcohol tests, and the remaining students were kept in protective custody until they could be released to parents or guardians.

Security Guard Stabbed At LSU Law School

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Police are searching for a man accused of stabbing a security guard at the Louisiana State University's campus.

Investigators said the incident happened early Saturday evening at the LSU Law School.

Witnesses said they overheard the security guard arguing with a man regarding access to the building minutes before she was stabbed.

Columbine-Style Attack Averted At San Mateo's Hillsdale High School

UPDATE: Police in San Mateo, California, said Monday that “a potentially very drastic event” at a high school was averted when school personnel subdued a former student who walked into the school armed with pipe bombs, a chainsaw and a 2-foot-long sword.

“It had the potential to be a catastrophic incident,” said police Lt. Mike Brunicardi, describing the incident in which two pipe bombs exploded and at least 1,200 students and faculty were evacuated from the Northern California school.

No one was injured in the incident, police said.

Education officials plan to re-evaluate security procedures after a gunman stormed a teacher's lounge at a Moreno Valley elementary school early Wednesday morning and robbed three teachers.

Officials want to enhance security procedures, including adding security patrols and closing certain access points to schools, said Superintendent Rowena Lagrosa, of the Moreno Valley Unified School District.
