Operational art and modern American strategy by Adam Elkus
Submitted by Fred on Sat, 12/12/2009 - 7:25am.Great article over on Open Democracy by Adam Elkus that gets to the importance of the fused and synergistic effect of operational art to link strategy and tactics. Submitted by Fred on Wed, 11/04/2009 - 10:26am.The call comes in for a man wearing blue jeans and a white hooded sweatshirt standing outside the local convenient store pacing back and forth. He has been there for 15 minutes, the clerk tells the dispatcher. “I am not sure what he is up to but I would like the police to check him out.” The information is relayed to the sector car, and the sector car responds. While driving to the scene, the officer recalls that this particular store has been robbed in the past and more than once. As he pulls up, he sees the subject in question pacing back and forth.
Foot Pursuits, who has the advantage?
Submitted by Fred on Wed, 11/04/2009 - 6:01am.Foot pursuits have been in the news out in the western part the country, where officers have been injured or killed in the line of duty while pursuing on foot fleeing suspects. Remember we had a recent situation this past year in Framingham Massachusetts where an officer was shot pursuing suspect on foot. This has brought up the question on policies and procedures governing them. Here is my two cents on this very important topic..
