Reflection Leads to Deeper Learning...Put Each Day Up For Review

"I will keep constant watch over myself and most usefully will put each day up for review. For this is what makes us evil, that none of us looks back upon our own lives. We reflect upon only that which we are about to do. And yet our plans for the future descend from the past." ~Seneca, Moral Letters

I have been reading a lot about the importance of reflection on our days happenings. Mentally replay your entire day and then ask yourself the following questions:

  • Did I behave according to my principles?

Is Your Purpose in Life Based on Self Awareness and Strength of Character or Are You Just Following the Crowd?

"A man's true greatness lies in the consciousness of an honest purpose in life, founded on a just estimate of himself and everything else, on frequent self-examinations, and a steady obedience to the rule which he knows to be right, without troubling himself about what others may think or say, or whether they do or do not that which he thinks and says and does."   - Marcus Aurelius

In Building Trust, Actions…Speak Louder Than Words!

“We're never so vulnerable than when we trust someone--but paradoxically, if we cannot trust, neither can we find love or joy.” —Walter Anderson.

In his book The Speed of trust Steven M.R. Covey says:

Somewhere Along the Way

Afraid of the Light

I just love this poem By James Kavanaugh. It hits a nerve in me about how competition is not always healthy and if we are not careful we miss out on what’s truly important in life, mainly people and the simple things.

J.J. DID TIE BUCKLE Traits I live By

The United States Marine Corps had a profound effect on my life. It’s where I learned how to follow and how too lead, 35 years ago. The Marine Corps values have a huge effect on the Marine Corps and it’s why they value the term Gung Ho (working together) which they still today claim is their most progressive tradition! I think the term gung ho which is quite often though to mean can-do attitude that’s applied to individual effort. IT IS NOT!
